Kushani Art Society's members, Zakria and Shoaib had a part in illustrating a children's book called Blue: Voyage to the Sky which was published by DareArts Foundation for children. Artworks were sent from Manitoba, Canada but Zakria and Shoaib also attended the opening ceremony in Toronto, Canada. Click Here to see the cover of the book. Kushani Art Society held an exhibiton for the second time for a special Canadian Citizenship ceremony at Marc Garneau Collegiate Institute in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In this ceremony high profile canadian personalities such as the former General Governal of Canada, Adrienne Clarkson was present. Toronto, Canada. This exhibition took place on December 4th, 2008.

Kushani Art Society had an exhibition at Toronto city hall for Refugee Rights week for the second time. It was from Monday March 30th to Friday April 3rd. On April 2 the Toronto Star newspaper printed a photograph of the exhibition with Kushani Art Society’s artworks.

Zakia who is a member of Kushani Art Society participated at the Canadian citizenship ceremony where she gave a speech. The ceremony was held at Thorncliffe Park community of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Zakia is also in charge of women's branch of Hazara Canadian Cultural Association and member of Canadian community Citizenship Committee.
